Calling all foodies! What better way to usher in Fall then a week-long culinary festival at the uber luxurious Rancho La Puerta in Mexico? The ranch, famous for its organic garden and healthy cuisine made from the garden’s crop, will host a semi-annual culinary week Oct. 25th – November 1st called Fiesta de la Cocina Que Canta.
The week’s events will include educational and hands-on dining experiences featuring visiting chefs, each a master in Mexican cuisine. The chefs will lead classes in traditional Mexican meal prep with an emphasis on healthy ingredients and cooking techniques, as well as new Mexican fusion-inspired cuisine. In other words, this is your chance to learn from masters how to make a fabulous and healthy meal.
This scrumptious celebration will kick off with a Mexican festival on Sunday Oct. 26th, during which the resort’s dining hall and patios will be transformed into an open air party filled with food, art, spa and cultural activities. Kumeyaay blessings, honoring the first residents who lived on the land, will also be part of the event.
The cost to attend just the Mexican festival on Sunday Oct. 26th is $250 per person – which is a bargain considering it normally costs thousands of dollars to visit the ranch for a multiple-night stay. This is a rare chance to sample all that the resort has to offer for a single day. I for one, will be there!
For those not familiar with the fabulous and legendary Rancho La Puerta, it was just named by Travel + Leisure as the #1 Destination Spa in the World for 2014 (and that’s not the first time the ranch has received such honors.) The ranch is located on 3,000 acres and offers more then 80 fitness classes each week, spa treatments and daily lectures and workshops.
(If you want to take part in the entire week’s worth of food festivities, contact the resort for more information.)
