Mia Taylor is an award-winning finance and travel journalist, editor, and digital content producer who has 20 years of experience.

Over the past two decades, Mia’s passion for travel and writing talent have propelled an award-winning career that has taken her around the world. That journey has included writing for print & online news organizations; Fortune 500 corporations; travel companies, banks, and non-profit organizations.

Mia currently divides her time between a variety of endeavors including working as a Senior Writer for TravelPulse, a regular contributor for Parents.com, and SF Gate and editing content for USA Today 

Previously, Mia worked as a features contributor for BBC News, where she wrote travel, culture, and futures stories; and prior to that she was a news editor at Dotdash Meredith Corporation – America’s largest digital and print publisher. She began at Dotdash Meredith as a staff writer for four of the company’s most iconic brands: Real Simple, Better Homes & Gardens, Parents, and Health.

Over the course of her career, Mia has contributed articles to a variety of leading national publications. Her bylines have appeared in Travel + Leisure, Real Simple; Better Homes & Gardens; Parents, Health, Fortune, TravelAge West, AAA Northeast, Bankrate, U.S. News and World Report, L.A. Parents Magazine, SF Gate, and TravelPulse.

Awards

Over the course of her career, Mia has received nine awards from the North American Travel Journalists Association, including several gold and silver awards for coverage of environmental sustainability and wildlife conservation issues–including cruelty to elephants in the travel industry.

She was also part of a team of reporters from KPBS (the San Diego affiliate of National Public Radio) that won a Walter Cronkite Award for Excellence in Journalism for their investigation into the salaries of California County Supervisors.

Environmental advocacy

A dedicated environmentalist, Mia previously served as the volunteer director of communications for the San Diego County Democrats for Environmental Action, one of San Diego’s largest volunteer environmental organizations. In addition, she’s a cancer survivor who created a blog about battling cancer as a single mother.
